SAP FICO Consultant (Support Role)

Location: hybrid-New Jersey

Duration: 1 Year, six months on site, last six months, remote
Language Requirement: English (Fluent)
Certifications: SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP FICO (Finance and Controlling) preferred

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated SAP FICO Consultant for a support role to provide ongoing maintenance, issue resolution, and enhancement support for our live SAP environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in SAP Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules and will be responsible for resolving L1 and L2 tickets, assisting in system improvements, and coordinating with remote teams to ensure business continuity. This role does not involve leading the team but requires active collaboration with global stakeholders and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP FICO System Maintenance and Support

  • Monitor and resolve L1/L2 tickets related to SAP FI and CO modules, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Perform preliminary analysis, classification, and prioritization of support tickets.
  • Provide support for key areas of SAP FICO, including:
    • General Ledger (GL) accounting.
    • Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
    • Asset Accounting (AA).
    • Bank Accounting and Cash Management.
    • Cost Center and Profit Center Accounting.
    • Internal Orders and Product Costing.
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues such as reconciliation, closing periods, and posting errors.

2. Change Requests and System Enhancements

  • Analyze and evaluate SAP FICO change requests from end users.
  • Collaborate with the functional team to implement configuration changes to support enhancements.
  • Assist in testing and documentation of change requests to ensure successful implementation.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including testing system adjustments or changes.

3. Coordination with Remote Teams

  • Work closely with the remote SAP team based in China to resolve complex issues and support escalations.
  • Communicate effectively with global stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow across time zones.
  • Provide status updates and track tickets to closure in a structured manner.

4. Financial Reporting and Data Analysis

  • Assist with configuration and troubleshooting of SAP standard financial reports and reporting tools.
  • Support users with queries related to reporting requirements, data extractions, and reconciliations.

5. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing

  • Prepare and update functional documentation related to configurations, issue resolutions, and support tasks.
  • Share knowledge and provide basic training to end users to reduce recurring issues.
  • Maintain process manuals for support activities and standard operating procedures.

Key Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of SAP FI/CO modules, including:
    • General Ledger (GL), AP/AR, and Asset Accounting (AA).
    • Controlling components such as Cost Center Accounting (CCA), Internal Orders, and Product Costing.
    • Bank Accounting, Cash Management, and Tax processes.
  • Hands-on experience with L1/L2 ticket resolution and system troubleshooting.
  • Ability to support period-end closing activities and ensure compliance with financial processes.
  • Exposure to integration points with other SAP modules like MM, SD, and PP.
  • Knowledge of SAP tables, workflows, and basic debugging (preferred but not required).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills to interact with global and remote teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive attitude to address recurring issues and process improvements.
  • Ability to handle pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced support environment.

Certifications

  • SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP Financial Accounting (FI) or SAP Management Accounting (CO) preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • 5–6 years of experience as an SAP FICO Consultant in a support role.
  • Prior experience in providing L1/L2 support for live SAP environments.
  • Experience working with remote and multicultural teams.
  • Exposure to SAP S/4HANA Finance is a plus.
