About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced DBT Developer to join our team. You will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining DBT models to transform raw data into actionable insights for the business. This role involves understanding existing ETL workflows in IBM DataStage and replicating those transformations within DBT. You will also create DBT models to automate UDAs, optimize data pipeline performance, implement data quality checks, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver data solutions that meet their needs. Experience coordinating with offshore teams is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and maintain DBT models for data transformation and analysis.
- Replicate existing DataStage ETL processes using DBT.
- Create DBT models to automate User Developed Applications (UDAs).
- Optimize data pipeline performance and efficiency by identifying bottlenecks and improving SQL queries, transformations, and data loading processes within Snowflake.
- Implement data quality checks and validations to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Thoroughly test DBT models to guarantee functionality and performance.
- Create and manage Control-M jobs for DBT model execution.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate with and mentor offshore team members, providing support and guidance.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data warehousing best practices.
- Participate in Agile development processes.
- Document DBT code and data transformation logic.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
Essential Skills:
- Extensive experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) and its core functionalities.
- Strong understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and methodologies.
- Proficiency in IBM DataStage or other ETL tools.
- Expert-level SQL skills, including query optimization and performance tuning.
- Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data warehousing platforms.
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and dimensional modeling.
- Experience with data quality management and validation techniques.
- Familiarity with Control-M or other job scheduling tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with performance testing and optimization of data pipelines.
