Role       : Database Engineer (Oracle + PLSQL)
Location   : Remote (Anywhere in PST)

Role and Responsibilities: 

Manage and operate the core data infrastructure that powers global ecommerce business. This includes building and operating large scale Oracle database systems, TimesTen and MySQL databases. As a self-motivated and enthusiastic technical engineer of our team, you will collaborate with other team members and other teams to keep the Oracle fleet Patched, Upgraded, Well tuned, and implement appropriate security measures to keep it safe and secure. . This engineer is responsible for participating in outage windows and work with the team to carry on patching efforts. Engineer must have in-depth experience in Oracle and MySQL. Must have performance tuning experience. 

 Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  1. Responsible for Monitoring database performance and finding opportunities for optimization. This includes optimizing queries, tuning database configurations, and ensuring efficient use of indexing.
  1. Data Security and Compliance: Familiarity with implementing security measures to protect data from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other threats.
  1. Problem-solving skills enable them to diagnose and resolve these issues efficiently. This involves analytical thinking, creativity, and applying technical knowledge to find effective solutions.
  1. Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms, document procedures clearly, and collaborate with teams to ensure database requirements align with business objectives. Must deeply understand data security principles to protect sensitive information. Knowledge of TLS implementation is a plus.
  1. Must have coding skills in Bash and Python. This includes tools for monitoring performance, managing backups, and automating tasks.
  1. Must be proficient in database languages such as SQL (Structured Query Language) and PL/SQL (Procedural Language/SQL).
  1. Good teamwork and collaboration skills are essential to ensure that database changes and updates are coordinated effectively and align with overall IT strategies.
  1. Must be adept at diagnosing and troubleshooting database errors. This includes analyzing error messages, tracing issues to their root causes, and applying fixes or workarounds to resolve problems and prevent recurrence.
