Role: Senior VMware Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Duration: 2 months contract (might extend)

 

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Senior VMware vCenter and Horizon VDI Engineer for a short-term contract focused on stabilizing, troubleshooting, and enhancing the VMware environment. This role will involve advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution, the implementation of best practices, and the development of strategies to ensure an optimized and resilient virtual desktop environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with VMware vCenter and Horizon VDI, a strong understanding of virtual infrastructure best practices, and the ability to drive improvements across VMware stack. This is an on-site role based in Atlanta, GA.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex issues within the VMware vCenter and Horizon VDI environment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Environment Stability and Improvement: Proactively work to stabilize the virtual infrastructure, implementing necessary changes to increase environment reliability and resilience.
  • Implement Best Practices: Introduce VMware and industry best practices to improve environment performance, security, and scalability.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed documentation of all processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to ensure ongoing support and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional IT teams to understand current infrastructure needs, provide guidance, and support as needed to meet organizational goals.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vCenter and Horizon VDI administration and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise: Strong technical proficiency in VMware vSphere, vCenter, and Horizon View environments, including expertise in configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated experience in identifying root causes, resolving technical issues, and implementing long-term solutions to improve system stability.
  • Best Practices Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of VMware best practices and their application in a production environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document solutions clearly and work effectively in a team environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VMware certification (VCP, VCAP) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Nimble storage is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a contractor or consulting role is preferred
